Why Microfiber and why should I switch?

I wanted to get down to the nitty gritty on why microfiber is the cleaning method of choice versus chemical cleaners and disinfectants...first of all for those of you who are used to cleaning with traditional methods like comet, lysol, bleach etc...have you ever read the back of one of the bottles?

If not listen to this...as written on a Lysol Antibacterial Kitchen Cleaner bottle (on the front it states it kills 99.9% of germs!)  On the back it says this: "TO DISINFECT: For hard nonporous surfaces such as counter, sinks, appliances and stove tops, spray until thoroughly wet.  Let stand for 10 minutes before wiping!!!

Now ask yourself...have you been properly "disinfecting" your surfaces?  Likely NOT, I wasn't!

It then also states that you must rinse all food contact surfaces with clean water after treatment!  Are you doing that??? I wasn't!

So not only are we not properly disinfecting, but we are then covering our food safe surfaces with nasty harsh chemicals that are then going into the mouths of our loved ones...

The Deal on Microfiber

There are no regulations put upon the microfiber industry so you really don't know what you are getting when you purchase Microfiber.  Low quality Microfiber is split by 1/6th the strand of a human hair, better quality microfiber is split by maybe 1/9th...NORWEX microfiber is split by 1/100 the strand of a human hair.  Every single one of this strands are "grabbing" your germs, bacteria and dirt of your counters!  Anyone that has ever felt a Norwex cloth knows how "grabby" they are!  So instead of trying to kill bacteria on your surfaces you are actually REMOVING them to a 99.9% bacteria and germ free surface!

DON'T CREATE A SUPERBUG!
Special thanks to Kerry for enlightenting me on this interesting fact!
When you kill germs on a surface you never kill them all. There is always that minute amount that gets left behind - already the strongest (this is why they survive in the first place). This minute amount perceives the threat to its existence and mutates to save itself. This is how superbugs get created, and this is why chemical companies continually come out with New & Improved versions of their cleaners.

Microfiber does not kill bacteria. It picks it up - in the same quantities as what cleaners will kill. It leaves behind the same amount (actually a little less), and this little bit of bacteria that is left doesn't bother anyone - in fact exposure to a little bit of bacteria is essential to a healthy immune system and scientists believe that under-exposure to germs is contributing to rising allergy and illness rates. The bacteria left behind also does not perceive a threat and therefore doesn't mutate.

The bacteria that is picked up into a microfiber cloth gets rinsed away. Any remaining bacteria in the cloth cannot proliferate because the silver in the cloth breaks the cell wall of the bacteria, and it cannot reproduce.

NOTE: If the cloth is allowed to remain WET, and/or if dishsoap remains in the cloth, bacteria can grow. Wetness breeds bactera. Dishsoap does 2 things:

1) makes a barrier between the silver and the bacteria so no contact can be made;
2) provides a food source for bacteria

What is wrong with chemicals?
So lets talk green for a minute.  Imagine yourself cleaning a cutting board after cutting some chicken with bleach in your sink.  (The water and bleach combo down the sink don't disintegrate into some toxic waste section of our water table...it all mixes!  As you have seen many chemicals do not biodegrade or break down).  So there you are at your sink flushing down chemicals, then think of your neighbor doing the same thing, and all the people on your street, city, province, country...can you imagine where all those nasty chemicals are going?  Into our watershed, streams, rivers, oceans etc.  Forget about that farm fresh fish you purchased for dinner!  Think big...this is a huge problem.  We have become such a clean society that we are flushing huge amounts of toxins right back into our main resource...water!  Do you purchase organic food?  Then why not purchase a healthy cleaning alternative too!

SMALL AMOUNTS BIG DIFFERENCE!

I feel very fortunate to have the things I have in my world a healthy family, save place to call home, essentials and then some!
When one one has so much, sharing should come easy!
Well when I heard about KIVA today I had to jump on board.

Being a business mom who works hard to be able to stay home with my children while still helping provide for my family, I fell in love with the idea of helping other business moms with the same goal but not nearly the same opportunity.

I have become a Team Leader for tinasnorwex on Kiva

I am currently lending a small amount to a women of similar age to myself who is trying to purchase 3 cattle to help with her family's income.

Feel free to join my team, especially if you are also a work from home or business mom, or just have a big heart and want to do this with me, I would love to have you on board!

I will also be lending a portion of my profits from Norwex to Kiva entrepeneurs so help me help make a difference by shopping with me today!

Norwex Antibac Enviro Cloth

Norwex Antibac Enviro Cloth

What can I say...this cloth has been the root of my Norwex business!
There is nothing that will wow a crowd and get attention like spreading butter all over a window or mirror just to see what will happen!

This cloth is the Ferarri of microfiber - of course much cheaper however!
Its rare I don't sell a cloth or two to every guest at one of my Norwex parties as it cleans surfaces in a way you have never seen before using only water!

Heres a few reasons why I LOVE this cloth!
- Removes tea stains with a simple wipe out of your tea cups
- Removes salt water film from marine windows when used with window cloth! - my mom loves this one!
- Makes spot cleaning a breeze without leaving a shiny chemical residue behind
- Removes water stains
- Use wet to spot clean clothing - I removed blood from a pair of jeans using only water!
- Also can remove red wine out of white carpet using only water!
- How could I forget NO SMELLY CLOTH!
- Picked up entire spilled YOP from a picnic blanket using the Antibac travel enviro size 6x6!
I could go on forever at all the surfaces you could clean with this cloth!
You gotta see it to believe it!

Check out my FAQ section on Microfiber for more details on the enviro cloth!

Norwex SilverCare Toothbrushes

Silver Care Toothbrushes

I can't tell you enough how much I LOVE my Silver Care Toothbrush!
The bristols of the toothbrush are microfiber which are very good at keeping my teeth feel like I am just out of the dentist chair, but the best part is the head of the toothbrush is silver.
As you know bacteria doesn't grow on silver therefore making your toothbrush self sanitize as it dries!
The toothbrush comes with 2 heads that each last 6 months!

My daughter used to always come home from daycare with a runny nose, we would just get over and and she would go back and come home sick again.
Since starting her with a Silver Care Toothbrush she never gets sick which is so nice.

My daughter Robyn (above) has a thing about our toothbrushes, she likes to pack them around the house putting the plastic cover on and off of them.  I have to be careful as they do pose a choking hazard to anyone under three because of the removeable toothbrush head!

Shipping Charges

I get the question from time to time about shipping charges.  Well just today I had to return a pair of dryer balls that had unfortunately cracked.  In an effort to offer good customer service I offered my client to pay to return the dryer balls to Norwex head office so that she could get her warranty and be shipped a new set (normally it is up to the buyer to pay shipping if they want replacement).  All I shipped was the set of dryer balls plus an invoice and a piece of paper to Dauphin Manitoba (Norwex's head office).  It cost me $9.50 out of my pocket to ship a very small and light package!  Norwex heavily subsidizes our shipping costs because to ship one bag of laundry soap from Dauphin MB to BC is $32.00, that is more than the cost of the soap!
Anyone who has had to ship parcels with Canada Post these days knows that shipping isn't cheap.  So to send an entire package of inventory and only pay $5.25 is really not unreasonable...considering I just saw what it was to ship ONE set of dryer balls!  It is more than my profit on them actually...

When you go to a party and you combine your orders together on someones invoice to spare yourself a few bucks on shipping please understand that this doesn't eliminate the cost to bring your items to you.  We consultants pay shipping fees based on a dollar amount.  It also makes doing warranties VERY difficult as we are expected to send in fully filled out invoices in order to get returns granted.  Also keep in mind that when your order goes over $100 we get charged a higher shipping fee that we absorb out of our evenings profits instead of charge back to you.

Please understand this is not a make money tax included on your orders for us consultants as a bonus, it simply costs money to ship items!  I am a very fair person to my clients.  Many long term clients of mine know that I throw in a freebie or a discount every now and again to make up for the shipping costs, its my way of appreciating you for supporting me.

I hope this helps you understand shipping charges and feel good about it for future purchases!

Norwex Dryer Balls

I love my dryer balls...but don't let your dog see them! They may go missing!

Did you know that a dryer sheet that hasn't been used needs to be disposed of as "toxic waste" but if you run it through your dryer it can be recycled with your paper...guess where all the toxins are going...in your clothes, your towels, your childrens clothes your bedding!  YUCK!

They cut drying time down by probably 50% and make your clothing
beautiful and soft the good old fashioned way.

Static is not a problem if you pull out items like nylon, fleece, microfiber when they are dry,
not when all the other items are dry.

These are great for anyone with skin sensitives or anyone trying to reduce your hydro bill!
You will love them.

But please do not leave them in your dryer when not in use, have a towel you can set them on as they can crack if they get too cold!

Ultra Power Plus Laundry Detergent

This was one of my first items I purchased from Norwex because my sister in law loved it.
I couldn't believe how long a bag lasted her so I had to try it for myself.

I must tell you if you are looking to make your money go further, this item is for you!
My first bag lasted me (with 2 small kids) Mid May to Mid August!
3 months!  Then I realized I was using WAY too much for my machine and soft water and have since cut my usage back per load by half!  That is good value considering I was spending at least $7.99 for a "national leading brand"!

Take a look at this photo.
The photo on the left is Norwex
The photo on the right is a "national leading brand"
Both were poured in identical amounts in the same amount of water!
This photo was taken 2 weeks after it was poured!

What you are seeing here is that Norwex brand is 100% biodegradeable.
It doesn't contain any fillers, perfumes etc.
The "national leading brand" is cloudy because anything that floats or is foggy is "extras" items such as lime stone, chalk and animal bones are all used because they are calcium based. Calcium works along with phosphates to increase suds in the water, and make you feel that your laundry is clean. Fillers also add bulk to the product. These fillers, however, leave clothes dingy and contribute to itching, allergic reactions, and pre-mature fading and wear of fabrics. Norwex laundry detergent contains no fillers, perfumes, or dyes!

How much do I use?

•Top Load with Hard Water - 2 Tbsp of detergent - lasted me 3 months at this much!
•Top Load with Soft Water - 1 Tbsp of detergent

•Front Load with Hard Water - 1/2 - 1 tsp of detergent

•Front Load with Soft Water - 1/4 - 1/2 tsp of detergent - get up to 900 loads of laundry!!!

The Ultra Power Plus Laundry Detergent has no scent a mild "detergent" smell but no perfume, it cleans very well, I have had clients tell me it takes the smell out of their sweaty running gear!

I recommend getting the Norwex Dryer Balls to complete your laundry regimen!

I sell them as a package deal on my website called the

Norwex Spirinettes

These are SO great!  Just take a look at this photo of my oven.  One half of the oven has been cleaned with a spirinette and WATER...yes only WATER, no nasty chemicals, no paper on the floor, I didn't have to kick my family out of the home for a week.  It works like a charm.  For only $4.99 I think it did a great job on my oven!  It will also do a great job on your BBQ, grungy old pyrex dishes, roasting pans etc.  These can scratch some surfaces so test first!  Don't go scrubbing bugs off your husbands prize vehicle!
